  • Abstract: From the 165 Homoptera Auchenorrincha species which are able to transmit pathogens to plants, there are 128 species that belong to the familiy Cicadellidae, 30 of them are cicadelinae. In relation to the bacterial diseases and in particular those ones which are caused by Xylella fastidiosa, nowadays, the Citrus variegated chlorosis (CVC) is considered one of the diseases that causes serious damages and therefore great loss in the economy. In the Argentine Republic this pathogen affect citric plants of Valencia orange in Corrientes and Misiones provinces, and there are registered five cicadelinae species as possible vectors. This paper includes an illustrated key for the recognition of the genera of cicadelinae which were found on citrus plants, Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb. affected by CVC in Montecarlo, Misiones province. A systematic study of 18 species is given, as well as notes about geographical distribution, hosts, natural enemies and other interesting observations referred to their action.
