  • Abstract: From 165 species of Hemiptera Auchenorrhyncha with transmission capability of pathogens to plants, 128 belong to the family Cicadellidae. Most species (nearly 66) belong to Deltocephalinae, about 30 to Cicadellinae, 12 to Agallinae, two to Typhlocibinae, two to Gyponinae, two to Aphrodinae, two to Macropsinae and one to Coelidiinae. Within the bacterian diseases, the Variegated Chlorosis of Citrus (CVC) by Xylella fastidiosa Wells, has been detected in Brazil in 1987, and it is sindicated as responsible of severe damages and significant economical losses. In the transmission of this pest in several agroecosystems in Argentina, it is important to take in mind the possible interaction exerted by different Cicadelloid species, as is the case of Montecarlo, a locality in the Misiones province. Here, 18 species representing five (Deltocephalinae, Gyponinae, Agallinae, Xerophloeinae and Coelidiinae) of the eight subfamilies known as effective vectors around the world, are associated to naranja Valencia crops Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb. It is our main purpose to provide a pictorial key to identify each species, as well as data concerning geographic range, natural enemies, potential vector power and additional host plant for all of them.
